The word missing in the search was likely ” amortization ”

if you google search for a mortgage amortization calculator . . . there’s lots to choose from

Most bank websites, like WAMU.com, will have calculators that can calculate your mortgage payment. You can also go to real estate listings online, like realtor.com, and use their mortgage calculators. Though on average, with a 6.5% fixed APR 30 year mortgage, you can be expected to pay a little less than $500 a month per $100k you borrowed. So a $300k house might cost you $1500 a month. And a $50k home might cost you less than $250 a month. Of course that doesn’t include property taxes, home owners association dues (for condos, townhomes, etc.), property insurance, maintenance, etc. Check with the seller for those details.

    Good luck on your search!

CNNmoney.com, just hit their financing calculators and you will have access to several methods, from mortgages, to credit cards, how to invest, etc. Hell they even have little classes going on the weekly basis.
Is good to hear that you are only 17 and already eager to learn about managing your money, just remember a little tip, if you are in the U.S. : we are a society that revolves around credit and if you have good credit you will have easier access to loans and financial tools that people with bad credit will not get, and most important you will save thousands in interest.

    Good luck to you,

Good finance question! I know of an organization that gives up to $1500 to people to help them with their rent or mortgage. It’s available in most US cities, I highly suggest you check it out.

    Best of Luck.
